Nexus vs Nova: how to choose

Both campaigns include uncapped fibre, a free-to-use router and the R0 activation promotion where an existing MetroFibre termination point is already installed and verified. The practical difference is the entry and mid-tier speed ladder.

Nexus packages

Nexus offers 30, 40, 60, 100, 150, 250, 500 Mbps and 1 Gbps/500 Mbps options. It suits homes that want more steps between entry-level and 100 Mbps packages.

Entry pricing starts at R549 p/m.

Nova packages

Nova offers 30, 50, 80, 150, 250, 500 Mbps and 1 Gbps/500 Mbps options. It has lower entry pricing and stronger value in the 50 Mbps and 80 Mbps tiers.

Entry pricing starts at R479 p/m.

Cool Side guidance

Choose Nova for cost-sensitive home internet where available. Choose Nexus if your address is on the Nexus network or you prefer the 40/60/100 Mbps progression. Cool Side can help confirm the right option.

1 New pricing effective from 1 April 2026.
2 No Activation Fee: The Activation Fee will be waived from new direct MetroFibre Customers, who sign up during the Promotional Period, provided that an existing MetroFibre Termination Point (TP) is already installed on the premises to which the service will be delivered.

Part of your service includes a free to use router and uncapped data. MetroFibre’s billing cycle is monthly prepaid. You pay for your service in advance each month. A pro rata fee will be calculated for the first month where your service is activated. This will be paid with your activation as soon as you receive your 1st invoice. An invoice will be sent on the 1st of each month and payment is required by latest the 5th of the month to avoid suspension of service.

Installation

We don’t charge an installation fee when you place a service order. If, however, the distance between our boundary box and the installation point in your home is further than 20 metres, we will have to quote you.
